Old friend I haven’t heard you for a while, do you remember back to the time when you were there for me every day? What you said to me then paved the way.
If what was said then means nothing now should we blame inexperience for not knowing how? This song’s not about me and it’s not about you, it’s about the songs that I love.
When times were tough you always knew what to say. We both made mistakes but we turned out ok. We might not be the coolest but we’re here to stay, I will never forget those days.
I would be nothing without you. Our shared past, our common history, that’s me and you. Because those songs meant everything and still mean everything to me.

I don’t want to ridicule you, you do that best yourself. But please do your worshipping somewhere else. I don’t want to define what’s right and what is wrong, but do you really think that this is where you belong?
Self-reflection and remorse for sins, there’s nothing wrong with that. But who is judge and who is jury? I’ll put my own life back on track. Living in obedience puts everything in doubt. Missing this is just not working out.

What’s worse, heart ache or bone breaks? Do I really have what it takes? Social politics is what I do but I’d do anything for you, for a quiet life with you.
Pain in arms and legs can be killed, but the hole in my chest can only be filled by you. Each time before I was sure of myself, but it’s not like that any more. Have you felt like this before?
Pain can be killed by tablets and pills, but I don’t think there’s a cure for this ill. Each time before I was so sure of myself, but now what’s worse, heart aches or bone breaks?

If the kids try anything of their own, tell them things were better 20 years ago. Is that the world you’ve created for yourself? Fuck you, you may as well be dead.
The best thing about getting old is looking down on the young, don’t allow mistakes that you made, follow the path that you laid. If they try to do something new, tell them what things were like in 1992, and if they fuck up what do you do? Laugh to yourself- you haven’t got a clue.
What do you know? What did you do? Who’s responsible? It’s you.
The past was not always the best, think about what you’ve learned and build on it, and if everything was still better before, then you are too fucking old.
We all have to change. The way we think. Every one of us. And me and you.

There are things in life I love and there are things I hate; and there are some things in life that I just don’t get.
I have crossed the globe, passport in hand. Does that little red book really define who I am? As red books go there are better that I’ve read, given me much more to think about in the life that I’ve led.
It’s not that there aren’t things in England that I don’t like. As a place to live you could say it’s alright. It’s just that where I am from doesn’t much about me say. My life’s about people I know and love and not a national boundary.
